Glasses cover the mucus membranes of the eye, and glasses wearers are habituated to never directly touching the surface. Everyone should be wearing masks, despite decent reason to think that the protection is worse than glasses – we suck air in through the sides of a mask, and most people in America never learned how to wear one safely.
It's a good idea to wear a mask anyway – hard to imagine it'd hurt, at least – but I've seen precious few goggles. Should we encourage people to ditch their contacts for their emergency glasses? Should people with perfect vision wear goggles?
